研究テーマ

  • (1)硬X線やガンマ線の偏光情報を取得できる検出器開発を行い、その検出器を用いてガンマ線バースト、パルサー、超新星残骸等の観測的に研究する。
    (2)高エネルギーガンマ線天文学の研究を行っており、主にそれに使用される検出器の開発を行っている。
    (3)放射線検出器の基礎開発を行っており、放射線を使った医療機器への応用を目指している。

    ガンマ線バースト (GRB) は宇宙最大の爆発現象であり、第一世代の星形成や宇宙再電離 (宇宙暗黒 時代) を研究する上で格好のプローブとなりうる。しかしそのためには GRB のエネルギー発生メカニ ズムを詳細に理解する必要があるが、現在それには至っていない。しかし超小型の GRB 偏光度検出 器 GAP は 3 例の GRB に対して高精度の偏光観測を実現し、偏光観測が GRB の放射機構を解明でき る事を示した。そこでより大型で高性能の GRB 偏光度検出器を NASA/MSFC と共同で宇宙ステー ションに搭載し、より統計的な偏光観測を実現する事で、GRB の輻射メカニズムを解き明かす事を 目指している。本研究は検出器のエンジニアリングモデルを作製し、ビーム実験や気球実験を通して その性能を実験的に調べる事を目的としている。

  • 基盤研究(B)，2012年04月 ～ 2015年03月，小型衛星搭載用ガンマ線バースト偏光度検出器のプロトタイプ開発

    ガンマ線バースト (GRB) は宇宙最大の爆発現象であり、第一世代の星形成や宇宙再電離 (宇宙暗黒 時代) を研究する上で格好のプローブとなりうる。しかしそのためには GRB のエネルギー発生メカニ ズムを詳細に理解する必要があるが、現在それには至っていない。我々は超小型 (∼4kg) の GRB 偏光 度検出器 GAP を使って、偏光観測が GRB の放射機構を明らかにできる事を示した。その成果を踏ま えてより大型で高性能の GRB 偏光度検出器を小型衛星に搭載する事を計画している。本研究は衛星 打ち上げの衝撃や衛星環境に耐えうるプロトタイプ検出器を作製し、その性能を実験的に調べる事を 目的としている。
