  • ヒト嗅覚器のステレオロジー解析と他動物との比較，2016年04月 ～ 2020年03月，ヒト嗅覚器のステレオロジー解析と他動物との比較

    鼻腔に存在する嗅神経細胞は生涯にわたり神経再生が起こっている特殊な神経細胞であり、神経再生のモデルとして注目されている。またヒトに関しては、嗅覚の異常が新型コロナウイルス感染や中枢神経変性疾患との関係により注目されているにもかかわらず、嗅神経細胞数が正確に計測されていないことが明らかとなった。この為、我々はヒト鼻腔に存在する嗅神経細胞の総数を明らかにするためにヒト鼻腔全体を標本として摘出しステレオロジーの手法を用いて観察を行った。
    この結果、ヒト嗅上皮ではヒト嗅神経細胞の総数は一側で約630万個、その内嗅球に投射している成熟した嗅神経細胞数は一側で約430万個であることを明らかにした。
