Profile
I am a researcher in Civil law (Japan) and Comparative Contract law (Civil law, Common law, and Mixed Legal Systems). My current affiliation is a Lecturer in Civil Law, Contract law (in Common law), and Consumer law at Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Yamagata University (National University), Japan since Oct. 2023. As my biography, From Apr. 2020 to Mar. 2023, I was granted JSPS Research Fellowship (DC1) and Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (No. 20J21047). From Apr. 2021 to Mar. 2023, I worked as a Project Researcher at Principles of Informatics Research Division, National Institute of Informatics (NII), Japan. During the same period, I also researched at Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom as a Faculty Academic Visitor (Visiting Scholar) from 1 Jun. 2022 to 31 Oct. 2022 (*due to COVID-19, it was shortened to half a year). I obtained LL.M. (Hitotsubashi University, Japan) in Mar. 2020, and Ph.D in Law (Hitotsubashi University, Japan) in Mar. 2023. I've been Fellow at Faculty of Law, Kokugakuin University from Apr. 2023 to Sep. 2023. My main interests are in transplantation, conflict, and harmonisation of legal systems. My main research fields are in Japan (a Civil Law jurisdiction with transplanted law) and sometimes in the United Kingdom (a Commonwealth-Common law jurisdiction; for comparison with the Civil law System). I'm committing to the research of Internationalisation and Contract law from a perspective of comparative law with Mixed Legal System. In detail, I discuss harmonisation of law, not only from the perspective of UNIDROIT, but also from a perspective of common law in the commonwealth (e.g. Persuasive Authority in the commonwealth countries). Then, I attempt to apply such a type of UNIDROIT to Japanese Law as transplanted law through the Mixed Legal System as a buffer for accepting that. In addition to this, I'm also committing to reconsidering the doctrines and works of Prof. Sakae Wagatsuma who was born in Yamagata (there's Wagatsuma Collection at Yonezawa, Yamagata) from such perspectives. As my other research interests, I am also interested in 'Law and Economics' and Juris-Informatics (which includes 'Crypto Assets and Private Law').
